The purpose of Law Walks is to introduce legal content to male and female students of Slovenian secondary schools in the form of visits to legal institutions and walks through legally important points in regional centers.
With this, we fill a gap in the educational process, which does not introduce legal fields to young people or introduce them to legal institutions or not directly to related professions.
Last year, Slovenian high schools started to implement the mandatory Active Citizenship course for the first time, which gives schools and teachers a lot of autonomy in implementation, and it is essential that students become familiar with and participate in the processes of democratic decision-making and coexistence.In the 2023-24 school year, we will conduct pilot walks in Ljubljana and Maribor with five different legal contents:- From Crime to Punishment – ​​Criminal Law Promenade- From freedom of expression to the right to protest - a constitutional walk- From child to partner and parent - family and inheritance law promenade- From pocket money to sparkling wine - a consumer-business promenade- From student work to full-time employment - labor law walkthroughWe hope that the added value of an innovative and active approach to increasing knowledge of the law in everyday life will also be recognized by school and judicial institutions in the coming months, and that they will support the expansion of legal walking tours to the widest possible circle of Slovenian students.
